Diamond

Diamond is a crystalline form of carbon. Its rarity makes it extremely valuable and precious. The combination of the 4Cs, namely Cut, Clarity, Carat and Colour, determines the value of a particular diamond.

Because diamond is so much harder than any other substance known, it is ideal for both jewellery and industrial purposes. Fewer than 20 percent of the diamonds mined each year are suitable for making jewellery.

To discern the value and quality of a diamond, experts examine each of the 4 Cs - Cut, Clarity, Carat and Colour.

CUT

The traditional 4 C's ideology is simply a take-off point for the love diamond. By way of review, here in essence is what the basics are all about.
A diamond's brilliance depends largely on how much light is reflected back to the eye.  This is determined by the cut. Each facet of the diamond must be cut to precision - i.e. ideal proportions, perfect symmetry and perfect polish, hence it is the most important of the 4 C's.

The Love Diamond's every single facet is crafted and matched with microscopic precision, made possible by the most stringent of laser measuring technologies and our master cutters' passion for perfection. Under the microscope, it is the only diamond with 8 perfectly symmetrical hearts and arrows.  to the naked eye, it displays the unsurpassed fiery brilliance of a thousand tiny suns with colourful explosions of never ending light.

CARAT
Diamonds are priced according to weight categories. A 5-ct diamond costs 15 times more than a 1-ct; a 1-ct costs 4 times more than a half-carat. Weight however does not equate to diameter, reinforcing the importance of cut.

The Love Diamond's standards ensure that both diameter and brilliance are simultaneously maximized.

COLOR
Diamond colour grades range from colourless (grade 'D' being the rarest and most valuable) to light yellow (grade 'Z'). In colour grading, the diamond is examined under special white light and through the bottom of the stone in order to isolate the brilliance from the actual body colour. The brilliance of a well-cut diamond can mask the visibility of a diamond's body colour, particularly in larger stones where colour becomes increasingly visible.

The Love Diamond's colour grade ranges from colourless to nearly colourless, thereby ensuring both its brilliance and rarity.

CLARITY
The clarity grade of a diamond refers to the size, location and the number of tiny marks ("inclusions") present in most diamonds. These diamond's "finger prints" (identifying characteristics) make each stone unique. Clarity grading is done under 10X magnification. Most inclusions are not visible to the naked eye and do not affect the return of light from the diamond. (an exception only happens in the 'I' or imperfect category.)

The Love Diamond is consistently cut to radiate exceptional brilliance, no matter what its clarity grade may be.

Well... one day I will buy you a real diamond ring! I promise! Maybe after colleting 10 coupons LOL.
